A Statement from the Clark County Democratic Party
on the Fight for Social Justice
We as members of the Clark County Democratic Party proudly stand in solidarity with those fighting for racial justice and speaking out against the inequality and division in this country. As Democrats we support social justice for all people, regardless of gender, race, age, income, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or national origin.
The deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, John Crawford, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, and Rayshard Brooks, among too many others, are vivid reminders of the historical wrongs and present injustices that black Americans bear each and every day across this country and in our community.
We proudly say:
- Black Lives Matter.
- Black Lives are beloved.
- Black Lives are worthy of fighting for.
In these significant times when tragedy has sparked a movement confronting the pattern of systemic racism, the Clark County Democratic Party renews its commitment to fighting for:
- equal protection and safety of all citizens,
- a fair living wage for the hard workers in our communities,
- access to affordable healthcare,
- quality public education for all our children,
- and the protection of voting rights for every person eligible to vote.
We also rededicate ourselves to the values of hope and unity in our public service, seeking to put an end to the divisive politics of fear, misinformation, and hate.
