Creating JOBS

● 14.8 million jobs were created and recovered in the first three years of the Biden-Harris Administration.

●     The unemployment rate has been below 4% for at least 27 consecutive months during the Biden-Harris Administration.

Increasing WAGES

● A $15 minimum wage was established for federal workers and contractors.

Supporting REPRODUCTIVE and WOMEN’S HEALTH

●     The Biden-Harris Administration strengthened privacy protections for patients & doctors and defended women’s ability to access medication abortion.

●     President Biden’s White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research fundamentally changes how our nation funds women’s health research.

●     US Senate Democrats have developed legislation protecting access to contraception, IVF, and abortion. Republicans reject these protections.

Preserving DEMOCRACY

●     Democratic state legislatures have enacted proposals to increase voting access, resulting in the enactment of 153 laws in 38 states. The Republican majority in the Ohio Legislature has made it harder to vote.

Standing with UNIONS (Literally)

●     President Biden is the first president to visit a union picket line.

●     A fundamental purpose of jobs-related legislation (Infrastructure Act, CHIPS and Science Act, Inflation Reduction Act, and more) was to bring manufacturing jobs supported by strong unions back to the USA.

●     More than one million unionized workers  who were in danger of losing their pensions  will now receive 100% of their retirement benefits for at least the next  30 years.

Protecting SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE

●     Republicans are proposing to raise the Social Security retirement age. Democrats have called for requiring the wealthy to pay more taxes so benefits can be maintained and perhaps enhanced.

Helping CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

●     Democratic pro-family policies give Americans the freedom to make personal choices for their families.

● Under Democratic leadership, Congress increased food stamps by more than $1 billion a month, provided needy children a dollar a day for snacks, and authorized the largest children’s summer feeding program in history.

Lowering HEALTHCARE COSTS

●     The Biden-Harris Administration worked to strengthen the Affordable Care Act. The number of uninsured Americans hit an all-time low of 7.2%. The number of people who signed up for an ACA plan grew to 21.3 million.

●     Medicare has negotiated lower prices for ten of the costliest, most widely used prescription drugs. 

●     Hearing aids are available over the counter, resulting in much lower costs.
Easing STUDENT DEBT

●     The Biden-Harris Administration has canceled the student loans for 4.3 million borrowers. The Administration helped more than 700,000 people access the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.

●     The maximum value of a Pell Grant increased by $900 per year to $7395.

Ensuring LGBTQ+ RIGHTS

●     Democrats proposed and supported the Respect for Marriage Act to enshrine marriage equality for same-sex and interracial couples into federal law.

●     The Pentagon eliminated the restrictions on transgender troops imposed by the Trump Administration and unveiled new rules designed to end discrimination and provide medical care for those service members.

Reducing GUN VIOLENCE

●     Democrats proposed and supported the Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun violence prevention legislation in nearly 30 years.

●     The Biden-Harris Administration established the Office of Gun Violence Prevention. In 2023 schools were awarded $286 million to support student wellness and school-based mental health professionals.

Expanding VETERANS’ CARE

●     The 2022 PACT Act significantly improved healthcare for veterans by expanding access and providing disability benefits for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits during their military service.

●     President Biden issued an order making sexual harassment in the military a crime.

Addressing the CLIMATE CRISIS

●     The Biden-Harris Administration is cutting pollutants from new cars and light trucks, and promoting changes to the kinds of vehicles Americans drive.

●     The Inflation Reduction Act provides $369 billion for a climate initiative to reduce greenhouse emissions and promote clean energy technologies.

●     Biden rejoined the Paris Agreement, an international pact aiming for all countries to slash their greenhouse gas emissions.

Improving INFRASTRUCTURE

●     $11 billion invested in Ohio through the American Rescue Plan Act. Local improvements include expanded broadband access, improvements to the Springfield Waste Water Treatment Plant, new fire stations in Springfield, and improvements to the Clark County Fairgrounds.

●     $11.7 billion has been awarded to Ohio from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, including $1.6 billion to rehabilitate the Brent Spence Bridge and build a companion bridge to Kentucky.

Regaining our place in INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

●     Committed to NATO, supporting Ukraine, and building stronger relationships with key global partners.

● Supported Israel while protesting Gazans’ loss of life and suffering, providing humanitarian aid, and seeking an immediate cease fire and a two-state solution for the long term.
